The City of Albuquerque has named the pavilion overlooking Tingley Field playground as the Adele Hundley Pavilion. The dedication ceremony, held as part of the Stories of Us initiative, was attended by community members, city officials, Adele Hundley, and her family and friends.

Adele Hundley addressed those gathered by saying, “It’s never been about me, it’s about helping people. When you look at all the work we do as politicians, you don’t do it alone—you do it because you have a lot of good people supporting you.”

Hundley is a native of Barelas and has contributed to both city and state leadership. She served as a New Mexico state representative from 1979 to 1982 and was responsible for writing legislation that established the New Mexico Mortgage Finance Authority (MFA), which continues to offer affordable housing financing throughout the state.

In addition to her time in the state legislature, Hundley served two terms on the Albuquerque City Council between 1983-1987 and 1997-2001. She has been recognized for her advocacy for Barelas and her involvement in preserving and redeveloping the Albuquerque Rail Yards.

Mayor Tim Keller said, “Adele is the kind of leader whose work uplifts the community in lasting ways. Her dedication has without question made Albuquerque stronger.”

The renaming is part of ABQ Stories of Us, an initiative encouraging residents to nominate individuals whose stories should be commemorated in public spaces. Community members can submit nominations or learn more at cabq.gov/stories-of-us.
