Casa San Ysidro will participate in the Village of Corrales’ annual Harvest Festival, scheduled for September 27 and 28 from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. The event is described as the village’s largest community celebration.
At Casa San Ysidro, attendees can visit the Heritage Artist Market, which features handmade crafts created by local artisans. Live performances are planned throughout the weekend, including morning shows by the Acoma Pueblo Enchanted Dancers that highlight Native traditions.
Casa San Ysidro Manager Aaron Gardner stated, “The Harvest Festival is one of our favorite ways to welcome the community to Casa San Ysidro. It’s a chance to experience New Mexico’s traditions right in the heart of Corrales and see how these practices continue to shape our lives.”
Demonstrations at Casa San Ysidro will showcase traditional skills such as blacksmithing, weaving, pottery, tinworking, leather punch, beadwork, and horno baking. Artists and museum guides will provide information about these crafts and their historical significance.
Mayor Tim Keller commented on the importance of such events: “Casa San Ysidro is a living connection to our past. Events like the Harvest Festival bring this historic site to life, giving families and visitors a one-of-a-kind experience.”
Casa San Ysidro operates as part of the Albuquerque Museum in partnership with the Village of Corrales. The property contains an extensive collection of New Mexican art and furnishings and serves as a venue for cultural heritage activities.
Admission to both Casa San Ysidro and all Harvest Festival activities is free for all visitors.
