Bernalillo County officials are inviting the public to participate in a community meeting about the future use of the Sandia Ranch property. The session is scheduled for Tuesday, September 16, from 6 to 7:30 p.m. at the Raymond G. Sanchez Community Center on 4th Street NW. Doors will open at 5:30 p.m.

The event will address proposed plans for improvements to the currently vacant Sandia Ranch site, located north of Osuna Boulevard on Edith Boulevard. Residents are encouraged to attend and provide feedback on ideas for developing the park and Edith Boulevard area. The county is also seeking input regarding future additions such as a new 4H building and a County Cooperative Extension office.

“This is an opportunity for the community to help shape the future of Sandia Ranch. BernCo Parks, Recreation, and Open Space encourages residents to share their priorities and ideas for how this property can best serve the North Valley and the county as a whole,” according to Bernalillo County.

Community members interested in more information may contact John Barney at jcbarney@bernco.gov.

In other developments within Bernalillo County, concerns have been raised by the District Attorney regarding suspects violating GPS monitor rules. For example, Jawid Yaqubi was accused of threatening his family with a firearm but was released from custody despite efforts by prosecutors to keep him detained until trial.
