Bernalillo County is inviting residents to participate in its next Community Dialogue meeting focused on economic development. The event will take place at 9 a.m. on Saturday, August 9, at the Vista Grande Community Center in Sandia Park. The main topic for discussion will be “Building a Strong, Competitive Economy.”

The meeting is part of a series organized by a steering committee that was formed to help the county’s Economic Development Department under the direction of the board of commissioners. This nine-member committee includes representatives from local businesses, employers, community organizations, and industry. Their role is to guide the county’s development strategy with an emphasis on creating an inclusive and resilient economy.

A report based on these discussions will be presented to the board in October. Until then, the Economic Development Department continues to gather public input through these meetings. Previous sessions have been held at locations such as the South Valley Multipurpose Senior Center and Taylor Ranch Branch Library.

“We want to hear what our friends and neighbors believe is important as far as economic development,” said Bernalillo County Executive Development Officer Marcos Gonzales. “We are using your comments to inform our Economic Development Department’s future strategies and programming. We appreciate your time and being part of this conversation.”

Community members can attend any session based on their interests. Each site offers a light meal before the meeting begins, translation services, and activities for children.
