Bernalillo County officials have launched a new initiative to help voters better understand general obligation bond questions on the ballot for the 2025 Regular Local Election. County Clerk Michelle S. Kavanaugh and Albuquerque City Clerk Ethan Watson are working together on this effort.
The campaign, called “Know the Bonds,” features short videos that explain key questions about bonds and detail which projects they would fund. The topics include public safety, parks and recreation, museums, cultural centers, as well as community resources such as housing, health, and animal welfare. Voters can also review the 2025 General Obligation Bond Program for a full overview of all proposed purposes and projects included in the ballot.
The first video is already available on the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office Facebook page. Additional videos will be released on both offices’ social media pages as Election Day approaches.
For more information, voters are encouraged to visit either the Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office website or the Albuquerque City Clerk’s Office website. They may also call 505-243-VOTE (8683) or email clerk@bernco.gov.
The issue of public safety remains prominent in Bernalillo County. The District Attorney has expressed frustration over suspects violating GPS monitoring requirements and being released back into the community when they should remain under supervision, according to recent reporting (source). This context underscores why public safety is one of the main areas addressed by proposed bond funding.
