The Bernalillo County Clerk, Michelle S. Kavanaugh, along with the Bernalillo County Board of Commissioners, will recognize students from Albuquerque Public Schools (APS) who designed the official “I Voted” stickers for 2025. The recognition event is scheduled for Tuesday, October 28, 2025, at 5:00 p.m. in the Ken Sanchez Commission Chambers at 415 Silver Ave. SW in Albuquerque.

According to county officials, this recognition highlights the creativity of these young artists and their role in encouraging civic participation. The “I Voted” stickers will be distributed to voters during early voting, which ends on November 1, and on Election Day, November 4.

Meanwhile, there are ongoing concerns within the county related to public safety and criminal justice procedures. The District Attorney of Bernalillo County has expressed frustration that some suspects are released without GPS monitors when they are supposed to have them. For example, Jawid Yaqubi was accused of threatening his sister with a gun and firing a shot near his mother at their home in Albuquerque. Despite efforts by the DA’s office to keep him in custody pending trial on charges of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon, a judge decided to release him.
