Bernalillo County Animal Care Services has signed a five-year agreement with the Village of Los Ranchos to provide animal care services. The agreement, which began on September 11, extends the same services available in Bernalillo County to residents of Los Ranchos. These include enforcement of village ordinances, access to shelter resources, and after-hour emergency response.

The Village of Los Ranchos will pay Bernalillo County $54,000 annually for these services. After one year, both parties will review the call volume to determine if an adjustment in the rate is necessary.

This partnership comes as other county agencies face challenges. For example, the District Attorney of Bernalillo County has recently expressed frustration about suspects being released without GPS monitors when they are supposed to have them.
