The Bernalillo County Clerk’s Office will be closed on Monday, October 13, in observance of Indigenous Peoples’ Day. This closure includes early voting at the Clerk’s Annex. Regular office hours and early voting services will resume on Tuesday, October 14.

For additional information regarding office hours, the Bureau of Elections, Recording and Filing, and other services, the public can visit berncoclerk.gov. The Clerk’s Office can also be contacted by phone at 505-468-1290 or via email at clerk@bernco.gov.

Meanwhile, concerns remain within Bernalillo County’s justice system. According to a report from KRQE News, the District Attorney has expressed frustration over suspects violating GPS monitor rules and being released without proper monitoring. One example cited is Jawid Yaqubi, who was accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after allegedly threatening family members with a gun in Albuquerque. Despite efforts by the DA’s office to keep him in custody until trial, a judge ordered his release.
