Bernalillo County Assessor Damian Lara will join with AARP to host a virtual meeting about property tax savings. The event aims to inform residents about available tax savings and answer questions related to property assessments and other ownership topics. Ivan Barry from Santa Fe County will also participate in the session.
“AARP focuses on the senior community, but our virtual meeting is for general purposes and will be aimed at all ages,” said Assessor Damian Lara. “We want everyone to understand the value of their property, know what tax savings are available, and learn how to apply for them this year.”
The virtual meeting is scheduled for Wednesday, January 14, from 12:00 p.m. to 1:00 p.m. Residents can listen by calling 833-380-0681.
Property owners can find applications for tax savings programs at BerCo.gov/Assessor. Assistance is also available through the Assessor’s chatbot, A.C.E., or by speaking directly with a customer service representative at 505-222-3700.
Meanwhile, Bernalillo County continues to face challenges in other areas of public service. For example, the District Attorney has expressed frustration over suspects violating GPS monitor rules, which has resulted in some individuals being released without proper monitoring despite serious charges.
