Bernalillo County’s Planning & Development Services Department has introduced new online features for contractors seeking building permits. The updates allow licensed contractors to apply digitally for various permit types through the Accela Citizen Access website. The upgrade also includes a digital plan review process using DigEplan software.

The department serves areas of Bernalillo County outside the City of Albuquerque. These changes are intended to streamline the permitting process and improve accessibility for contractors.

In related news, issues in Bernalillo County’s criminal justice system have been highlighted, as suspects sometimes return to the streets without required GPS monitors. For example, Jawid Yaqubi was accused of aggravated assault with a deadly weapon after an incident involving his family at their Albuquerque home. Despite efforts by the District Attorney’s office to keep him in custody until trial, a judge released him.
