Bernalillo County is organizing a free Overdose Recognition and Response Training and community forum on September 24, 2025. The event will be hosted by the Behavioral Health Education and Awareness Council (BHEAC) at the CARE Campus, located at 5901 Zuni Rd. SE. Attendees can also join virtually via Microsoft Teams.
The training session, led by Behavioral Health program manager Erica Abeyta, will last for one and a half hours. Free Naloxone kits will be provided to participants who complete the training.
This initiative is part of BHEAC’s efforts to expand education and awareness in areas such as housing, homelessness, recovery, and behavioral health.
Those interested in attending in person are encouraged to reserve a seat by emailing Kimberly McManus at kmcmanus@bernco.gov. Virtual participation is open to all.
The issue of overdose deaths continues to impact the local community. In related news, the District Attorney of Bernalillo County has expressed frustration over suspects violating GPS monitor rules and being released back onto the streets despite serious charges.
