Route 790 will resume service on Monday, August 18, following a summer break. The bus line serves as a connection between Albuquerque’s Westside and the University area, also stopping at major destinations in Old Town and Downtown. It is frequently used by students and staff from the University of New Mexico (UNM) and Central New Mexico Community College (CNM).

“Students and families need convenient bus routes that get them where they need to go,” said Mayor Tim Keller. “Route 790 is an important link connecting the Westside with education and enrichment opportunities in the downtown and University areas, and vice versa, for free.”

“With the school year kicking off, we hope that UNM and CNM students will take advantage of this one-seat ride across Albuquerque,” said Transit Director Leslie Keener. “Taking the 790 is a fantastic option to avoid gas and parking costs, reduce pollution, and study on the go.”

The route operates hourly on weekdays from approximately 6 a.m. to 7 p.m., beginning at the Northwest Transit Center near Cottonwood Mall. It travels south on Coors Boulevard, east on I-40, south on Rio Grande Boulevard, east on Lomas Boulevard through downtown, then south on University Boulevard with stops at both UNM and CNM. Last year’s changes improved access to these educational institutions.
