Albuquerque Parks & Recreation’s Open Space Division will begin construction of a new shade structure at Maloof Air Field on December 1. The project involves installing a custom 21-foot by 40-foot shade structure and a new concrete pad, which will expand usable space for the public.

The work is expected to last two months, with completion scheduled for early February. During construction, the airfield will remain accessible, but access to the viewing area on the south side will be limited.

In a statement, the Open Space Division said, “The Open Space Division is committed to enhancing recreation amenities for the greater Albuquerque area.”

Officials have asked for patience from visitors while efforts are made to minimize disruption during construction.
