The City of Albuquerque’s Parks & Recreation Department has completed its third annual Toys for Tots Holiday Toy Drive, collecting 1,064 toys from community members. The announcement was made at a press conference held in the Los Altos Park Community Room.

Over the course of November and early December, toys were gathered at four sporting events organized by the department, including tournaments in softball, pickleball, tennis, and disc golf. The Albuquerque Running Fiesta also contributed toys after hosting its first marathon event on November 2.

Mayor Tim Keller stated, “Every toy collected represents a family in our City that will feel a little more joy this holiday season. I’m grateful to everyone who donated and to our Parks & Recreation team for leading this effort for Albuquerque kids.”

PRD Director David Simon said, “This program has become one of our favorite traditions. The City’s athletes really stepped up turned their love for sports into concern for others.”

Toys for Tots Coordinator Gunnery Sargent Fiaseu added, “I love the ‘one team’ concept with the different sports who participated in this toy drive. This is a great thing we’re doing for the community to ensure that kids and families have something to look forward to this holiday season. I can’t thank you enough! We are honored to team up with [the City].”

After the event, city staff and volunteers loaded the toys into Toys for Tots boxes and onto distribution trucks. This initiative reflects Albuquerque’s ongoing commitment to supporting families and fostering connections within the community.
