The U.S. Air Force has submitted an application for a new construction permit to install a 27-horsepower emergency generator at Building 737 Administration Facility, 377 MXS, located at Kirtland Air Force Base in Albuquerque. The proposal includes a limit of 100 hours per year on the total operation of the diesel-fired generator, which is intended to provide backup power for a small control room.

According to the notice, the public comment period began on March 4, 2026 and will end on April 3, 2026. A decision regarding the permit is expected by June 2, 2026.
